Apples can Lower Cholesterol Levels
Cholesterol can be prevented and reduced in various ways. One is by managing our diet. Some studies show that apples can reduce fat levels in blood. Groups most at risk of having a heart attack are post-menopausal women. For that if you are at this period, you should eat apples routinely. Apples can lower cholesterol levels by up to 25% if you eat it regularly for several months. The biggest decline is in lipoprotein or bad cholesterol. This type of fat is usually settled along the arteries. And if this happens continuously, it will increase the risk of blood clots and can be life-threatening.
Recent research conducted by Florida State University also showed that apples can lower cholesterol levels. If the level of cholesterol in blood decreases, then our hearts will also be healthier. The heart is a vital organ in the human body. With a healthy heart, the risk of various diseases will also be reduced. The facts show that about 45 percent of women in the UK have a stroke or heart disease. It is a disease that that causes most mortality in postmenopausal women. Before entering this period, women are more able to survive against heart disease. However, this ability decreases gradually as women age above 50. Since apples can lower cholesterol levels, older women should routinely eat this fruit.
You don’t need to consume too many apples every day, just consume only 2 each day to protect your heart. A study took this sample. There were about 160 women involved in the study, and they all had experienced menopause. Some women were asked to consume two apples every day, and some were asked to take plums. Once in 3 months all volunteers underwent a blood test. And from the study it was found that women who regularly consumed apples had 16 percent drop in LDL, and 9 percent in cholesterol. While the group eating plums, the cholesterol was also decreased, but not as much as in those who consumed apples.
In 2009 there was also a same study conducted in Poland. And the study also revealed that apples are beneficial for lowering cholesterol. Not only good for hearth, but apples can also reduce the risk of colon cancer.
